School Events
The children had a fantastic World Book Day. Their hats looked amazing and so very creative.
The children enjoyed looking to see what our office Elf got up to each day, we thought you might like to see some of his escapades!
The children had a wonderful experience today when we had the Night Owls visit the school. The children learnt all about the owls and were mesmerised when the owls flew just inches above everyone’s heads. All pupils then had the opportunity to have a photo taken with one of the owls, which was placed on their shoulders. This was definitely an awe and wonder moment!
Horndon school entered the Christian Aid Creative for Climate Change event. The whole school created art work to show their views on climate change and climate justice. Class 1 were really fortunate as they were able to work with Wendi Lee, a local artist.
Thank you to all the parents who sent in their donations, which enabled us to pay for this wonderful experience for the children in KS2 and raise £160 for future DT projects.
The children had an amazing time. Primrose, from year four, said "It was great. The food was perfect because we got to season it. I want to make the recipe every day." Bobby, also from year four said, "The food tasted fabulous, and the flavour of the sauce were so nice. It was great." When asked if he wanted do it again, he said "Yes definitely."

Nursery children enjoyed a Teddy Bears Picnic at the school this week. Year 6 planned activities which included decorating biscuits made by Chris and making hats. Our young children also had stories read to them by some of our year 6 pupils
I think Big Bear enjoyed it too - he didn’t move once!
We came 4th this year in the Borough Olympics. Most of us gained 1st, 2nd or 3rd in our individual competitions, helping us to come 4th. Everyone tried their best to help get the best scores possible. We all had a good time and next year we hope to win a shield.

French Day 2023
The school held their own French Day. Mr Treadwell came in and made crepes with all of the children - not only did they look amazing, the aroma of freshly cooked crepes travelled around the school throughout the sessions.
All of the children became engineers for the afternoon, as each group constructed their own version of the Eifel Tower, built expertly using kebab sticks, marshmallows and oranges!
There were also French games to play, including Snakes and Ladders and lots of different matching games. It was great to see how animated the children were and how much they enjoyed the activities. We even managed to fly the French flag for all to see!

Senior Tea Party
We were extremely privileged to have senior members of our community attend the school for the annual Afternoon Tea Party. Year 6 pupils were waitresses and waiters for the afternoon, ensuring that there was plenty of sandwiches, cakes and teas and coffees available for our guests. The finale of the tea party was when all seven classes within the main school (nursery were a little two small to attend) sang their own version of famous Disney songs.
Thank you to everyone who attended.
